Packaging know-how for incontinence pads
When stability is the measure of all things

Mild incontinence and the need for protective pads often go hand in hand with advancing age. Packaging these thick and flexible products with maximum performance requires a stable process. Optima machines and turnkey systems will guarantee this.

With flexibility and efficiency, the machines fill incontinence pads or panties (Femcare Pants) into PE film bags or paper packaging and produce volume-optimized packages. In different sizes on one machine, if you like. Talk to our experts.

Single product feed in detail Playing it safe from the first step

Your customers expect quality and packaging free from anything harmful. This is why various technologies first check every sanitary napkin and every insert to ensure it is suitable for the packaging process. All others are automatically rejected.

A decisive point in the quality assurance of pads and liners is, above all, the correct thickness. Products that exceed or fall below the desired value are rejected by the system directly. Metal detectors also check that no foreign objects of any kind have made their way into the goods during production. Needless to say, targeted sampling for control purposes is also possible.

All this guarantees you:

  • Fewer interruptions in the downstream packaging process and high process stability
  • Higher plant efficiency
  • Maximum security
Exemplary process flow

This is how product control works

Each pad or insert is individually accepted into the process and carefully inspected. If a product is not suitable for packaging, the product is automatically discharged from the linear process and can be further handled manually, if necessary.

Perfectly counted and dispensed

With Optima, you benefit from a great deal of flexibility – both in the transfer of your individual products from the manufacturing machine and in the output. Whether an entry-level model, stacker combined with several packaging machines, or split production flow for different formats, we will work with you to find the right solution for your requirements.

What they all have in common is that your pads and liners – either multi-folded or stretched – are checked, gently collected and lined up in a continuous process. In the end, the correct number is always delivered as a stack. Be it for further manual processing or directly into one or more fully automatic packing machines.

Made for your requirements
Stacking as you wish

For standard stacking processes, stacker chains with a discharge unit are used. High flexibility is provided by long stacking chains with multiple discharge units in fully automatic packing machines. This will enable you to achieve high outputs and variable pack sizes in parallel operations. Alternatively, this also facilitates pouch and folding carton packaging on a single packing line. Discover our different options below and then talk to the Optima experts about your specific requirements. That's how you will quickly arrive at the best solution.

Diaper machine

A packaging system consists of a stacker and the discharge into a packing machine

Sanitary napkin machine

By combining a stacker with several packaging machines, you can achieve a high output. Alternatively, it enables the packing of different package sizes in parallel operation

Breakdown of the individual products
Smart format change during production

For maximum flexibility and output, you can determine the course by using an upstream splitter. It divides the product flow individually into two lines and directs the products into two different stackers and the corresponding packaging machines.

The benefits to you:

Maximum output
Independent packaging lines for each format
Format change during production

We offer the best packaging performance on the market as well as decades of experience in packaging premade PE bags. You can choose from a wide variety of bag shapes here. When sealing the bags, we always make sure gaps are carefully sealed with perfect weld seams that are exactly where they should be. This way, your products are protected along the entire logistics chain and have a symmetrical shape, come what may.

Significant advantages for your production

Quick and easy format changeover thanks to fewer screws and quick-change systems, or a fully automatic system
Manual stack feeding ( e.g., of rejected products) into the packaging or production process
Product-friendly compression of bag stacks as needed: an attractive appearance and space-saving logistics for smaller packs

Bottom-folded bag

Bottom-folded bags are flat, premade PE film bags with one fold and two welded side seams, and can be custom printed. Optima machines fill them with the product stacks at top speed and seal the bags securely. During the process, our systems work precisely and gently with the product.

Side-folded bag

Side-folded bags made of PE film are either premade or made directly on the packaging machine out of a tube from the roll. After filling at top speed, Optima systems seal each bag securely and precisely.

With Optima bag-making equipment, you can produce side-folded bags directly from the roll and entirely customized to your requirements. We integrate this step directly into your packaging process. This guarantees you smooth operations and the greatest possible efficiency.

Safely packed for transport

Machine OPTIMA LAPAC-B
1. Quality control
Thermal imaging camera checks the quality of packages

Equipped with state-of-the-art systems, our machines identify whether the packaging quality is consistently good. For example, cameras check whether weld seams are closed and symmetrical. Therefore, if there are any changes in appearance, they are immediately detected during the process and can be quickly remedied by making machine adjustments.

This is all controlled in-line:

  • Shape of packaging
  • Packaging aesthetics
  • Weight
  • Inclusion of foreign objects
2. Grouping and formation
Bags with hygiene products are fed by a machine in rows

Bags with hygiene products can be introduced in multiple rows. Various formations are possible, depending on the sequence and layer formation; these are then packed for transport.

3. Packaging
Several packs of pads are packed together in one bag

Optima also offers flexible systems for safe and reliable transport packaging. With our machines, you can, for example, fully automatically pack the packages into large bags and close them with a weld seam.

Choose between these types of transport packaging:

  • Bag
  • Bundle
  • Carton
On the road in grand style
From collective packaging to palletizing

We make your products ready for transportation on a large scale. To this end, we support you in the project planning of your entire line as well as in selecting the machine systems for secondary packaging and palletizing for safe transport. This ensures your packages still look their best on the store shelf, even after traveling a thousand miles.
