For the third time, Optima employees participated in the "Christmas in a Shoebox" charity campaign. Due to the pandemic, there were no joint packing parties this time, but employees still provided the contents for 34 gift boxes. The boxes were sponsored by the orthopedic store Fuss-Freund Bühler from Michelfeld. Optima again supported the transport of the packages with a donation.
"The employees have once again put a lot of effort into putting together a colorful mix of useful and beautiful items," reports Isabel Augsten, who took over the packaging alone this year due to the Corona pandemic. "After all, Christmas is not cancelled for the children. That's why I'm even more pleased that many employees donated gifts anyway," Augsten says. Her husband works at Optima and brought her the contents for the gift boxes. That's how 34 packages came together. Augsten has already organized the campaign in previous years and held packing parties together with Optima employees.
Every year, the Christian aid organization Samaritan's Purse calls for donations of toys, which - packed in shoeboxes - are sent to children in need worldwide. This year, the packages are making the journey to Eastern European countries. Last year, a total of 10,569,405 shoeboxes were packed worldwide, 326,491 of which came from Germany.
