To ensure that its training and academic programs are future-proof and meet the expectations of today’s generation, the Optima Packaging Group is committed to fostering dialogue, continuous improvement, and modern working conditions. A key milestone in this effort was the first company-wide training forum, which provided new impetus for quality and collaboration. Around 100 employees involved in training and academic programs at the Schwäbisch Hall site participated in the two-day event. They represent the large number of instructors and supervisors at Optima who currently support 134 trainees as well as dual and cooperative students. The large number of participants underscores how deeply training and academic programs are embedded in the company and how important a shared foundation of quality is. With this new format, Optima is creating a platform for quality and collaboration. The goal is to share experiences, stay informed about current developments and changing conditions, and strengthen a uniform foundation of quality.
“Training is not a static concept; it evolves with every generation,” says Luisa Mebert, training manager at Optima. “Consequently, the tasks and content are constantly changing. Through our training forum, we want to better prepare our colleagues to work with young people and equip them with the skills they need for the future.”
Optima has recently further strengthened the framework for apprenticeships and higher education. With a start bonus, a 35+5-hour workweek with additional individual study time, and extensive subsidies for things like learning materials, rent, transportation, meal costs, and tuition, the company is creating an environment that supports learning while also providing personal freedom. The goal is to make training and study programs performance-oriented, modern, and attractive.
The range of degree programs is also being strategically expanded. Starting in September 2026, three new cooperative degree programs will be added: Mechatronics and Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and Industrial Digitalization, and Automation Technology and Mechatronics. In doing so, the company is responding to technological developments and the growing demand for qualified specialists in key future-oriented fields.
