For more than four decades, Hans Bühler has stood for the success and development of Optima. His 70th birthday is an occasion to look back on a remarkable company journey.

The story of Optima is closely linked to entrepreneurial vision, technological progress, and a clear commitment: taking responsibility – for customers, employees, and society. Today, the company looks back on an extraordinary development, marking the occasion of Hans Bühler’s 70th birthday, who has been a key figure shaping Optima for over four decades.

When Hans Bühler joined the family business in 1979 as the third generation, Optima had around 200 employees. Just a few years later, the company established its first international subsidiary in the United States – a bold move that marked the beginning of its global expansion. Today, Optima is represented at 24 locations worldwide and employs 3,400 people.

Under his leadership, Optima became what it is today: a technology leader, a driver of innovation, and a reliable partner for demanding industries – while also being an employer that puts people first. Many technical developments that others considered too difficult or complex were not avoided at Optima, but actively pursued. It is precisely this willingness to boldly explore new paths that has shaped the company’s identity.

Early on, Bühler also fostered a corporate culture built on trust and personal responsibility. Many employees have remained with the company for decades – a clear sign of a work environment where creativity and accountability can thrive. Despite its international focus, Optima has remained a family-owned company – grounded, reliable, and deeply connected to the region.

In addition to his work at the company, Hans Bühler has always been personally committed to social engagement. Whether supporting young talent through technology projects, promoting regional cultural and sports initiatives, or contributing to global aid efforts – his impact has gone far beyond the business sphere. For his wide-ranging contributions, he has received numerous honors, including the Business Medal of the State of Baden-Württemberg.

Hans Bühler also looks back on a fulfilling personal life: four adult children, three grandchildren, and over 40 years of marriage to his wife Christina, who has always stood by his side.
Optima extends its heartfelt congratulations to Hans Bühler on his 70th birthday – with deep respect for his life’s work and the values that will continue to shape the company in the future.
