Behind every elegant bottle lies a technical process that is increasingly characterized by speed, diversity, and change. For manufacturers, this means that they must be able to produce not only precisely, but also with flexibility.
Optima’s recent project with Italian cosmetics manufacturer and contract manufacturer, Cosmint, demonstrates how these requirements can be met in practice.
The perfume industry is caught between tradition and innovation. On one hand, there is a desire for exclusivity, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. On the other hand, the pressure is increasing - brands are focusing on more frequent product launches, batch sizes are decreasing, and packaging designs are becoming increasingly customized.
It is particularly important for contract manufacturers like Cosmint to be able to meet the diverse requirements of their customers, often at short notice and with a high degree of variance. This is only possible with flexible systems and processes that can be adapted to new conditions.
Flexibility is therefore a fundamental requirement in modern cosmetics production and perfume filling. The industry also demands the following:
In a recent project, Cosmint implemented a new filling solution at its Italian site in Olgiate Comasco. By purchasing two OPTIMA Moduline Smart machines at the same time, Cosmint has compact, flexible, and fast solutions for filling and sealing high-quality cosmetic products. For Cosmint, the space saved by the tool-free format changeover was particularly decisive: Instead of large tool racks, a single box is now sufficient.
In this interview, Francesca Grieco, Technology Transfer Manager at Cosmint, shares insights into the successful collaboration with Optima as well as the most important production requirements and improvements. “It wasn't just a technical project,” says Francesca Grieco. “It was also a successful cultural collaboration.”
