Optima Pharma Containment has officially inaugurated its new building complex in Radolfzell-Stahringen. The complex comprises a 1,800 m² assembly hall for state-of-the-art isolators and a 1,200 m² office wing with over 100 new workstations. The total investment amounts to around 20 million euros.
“This is a milestone for Optima,” emphasized Dr. Johannes-Thomas Grobe, CEO of Optima Pharma, at the inauguration ceremony last Friday. “The new workspaces will enable us to create space for more efficient processes, better collaboration, and further growth. The hall provides space for the assembly of high-quality isolators for pharmaceutical companies worldwide.” In one year of construction, a much-needed extension was added to the existing building in Stahringen. The number of employees had risen from 180 to over 300 in the past three years due to high demand. And the economic outlook remains positive.
Great importance was attached to sustainable construction in the office building. Thanks to geothermal energy with a brine heat pump and a 3,000 m² photovoltaic area, it is energy self-sufficient. Parking spaces are located under the office space on the first floor, which eases the situation on site. The eleven-meter-high hall is equipped with a crane and all the important media needed to make assembly efficient. A glass dome measuring almost 400 m² provides brightness and a pleasant working atmosphere.
“The special location of the building site presented us with major challenges,” explains architect Rolf Blank. “We had to drive 270 concrete piles 17 meters deep into the ground to ensure the buildings had a secure foundation. I am particularly pleased that we were able to complete the project exactly within the planned timeframe of one year despite these complex conditions.”
Mayor Simon Gröger praised the company's commitment: “Behind every job there is a family. With its statement in Stahringen, Optima is setting an example for many families.”
The Radolfzell site has a long history: the company was founded in 1957 as Metall+Plastik and initially manufactured bottle caps and coin albums. Since 1989, it has been building isolators for the pharmaceutical industry, and since 2011, the company has been part of the Optima Group from Schwäbisch Hall. With 3,400 employees worldwide, it manufactures state-of-the-art filling systems for the pharmaceutical industry, among other things, which, together with isolators from Radolfzell, ensure safe processes.
