Team Lead - Field Service Technicians (Pharma)

Job Summary

With locations and customers all over the world, Optima Machinery Corporation designs and builds packaging and filling machines including complete production lines for pharmaceutical, consumer, nonwovens and life science products. Our machines specialize in a variety of products and processes including, syringes, vials, freeze drying, toilet paper, wet wipes, chemicals, cosmetics, coffee, snack foods, transdermal patches, oral filmstrips, and more. The Team Lead –Field Service Technicians position serves as a primary contact to dispatch technical support, plan resources when in-house, train and mentor technical staff, act as disciplinary supervisor for technical staff for the Pharma division

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Directs, administers and controls the day to day operations and activities of the Pharma service technicians
  • Organization of 1st Level Support (e.g. Local Technicians).
  • Exchange on tasks and resources with resource planning at OPCO and in Germany
  • Make sure that Service reports are created and provided to SAM. Debriefing of OPCO service technicians, together with the SAM
  • Ensure customer feedback
  • Evaluate service data for accuracy and take the lead in setting technical target and priorities
  • Get involved in high escalation issues: Analyze customer visits for root cause analysis/deep dive assessments

  • Documentation: Pharma and especially all on site activities requires documentation and reports such as: service reports, change control
  • Working in teams and communication to different departments within the organization
  • Follow the processes and complete the work.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position is the disciplinary supervisor for the group of Pharma Field Service Technicians.

Work Environment
This job operates in a production environment of a customer site.  Adhering to the safety measures of the customer’s plant and working both independently as well as a team effort.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, hourly position.  The hours of work and days are typically Monday through Friday, but during customer trips – these hours/days may vary.

Some travel is expected for this position. (approx. 50 days per year)

Required Education and Experience
  • Technical apprenticeship/training
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with special machinery
  • Mechanical or electrical associates degree
  • Practical skills
  • Leadership skills for handling a Field Service group
