Staff Accountant

Job Summary

This accountant position is responsible for assisting staff with filing taxes, internal/external invoicing, daily billing, employee expense report entry and other miscellaneous tasks related to accounting. The Accountant is also responsible for handling various disbursements.

  • Process daily billing & external/internal invoicing in an accurate and timely manner.
  • File taxes so that all requirements are met while avoiding overpayment and update state changes.
  • Process expense reports in an accurate and timely manner and in accordance with departmental procedures. Manage credit card program on behalf of both the employees and company.
  • Perform collection on overdue customer accounts and perform account analysis monthly.
  • Maintain all corporate asset documentation and record keeping.
  • Entry and maintenance of customer and vendor information in the accounting customer master file.
  • Upload bank information on a daily basis and clearing customer accounts based on payment information provided.
  • Communicate with co-workers, management, clients and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Act as first lead for all Accounting Interns, petty cash management.
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
  • Assist with preparing documents for the annual audit.
  • Enter vendor invoices and assist with payment run.
  • Review, print and distribute all items within the accounting email in-box.

Supervisory Responsibility
The Accountant has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday in coordination with our company "core hours" as noted in our Employee Handbook, Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience
  • Associate´s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent number of years of experience in an accounting role.
  • Proficient working knowledge of all Microsoft Office products.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting plus one year of relates experience.
