Business Development Manager - Freeze Drier Technology

We are hiring a Business Development Manager who will be responsible for identifying and developing strategic business relationships within existing customer base, develop potential new customers, and working closely with the sales team as resource for our Pharmaceutical Freeze Drier product line. The Business Development Manager will take the lead in the development of new business opportunities that support Optima’s overall growth strategy. We are seeking someone with an entrepreneurial spirit, passion for business development, and a proven track record of accomplishments with a hands-on approach to building business opportunities.

In this key position, you will work closely with Freeze Drier business unit of Optima Pharma in Mornshausen, Germany, as well as the Optima pharma marketing department, sales, and product management teams to achieve established goals and implement business development initiatives that maximize and grow our footprint in North America. This position reports directly to the Director of Sales, Pharma, of Optima Machinery Corporation.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develop new business opportunities within existing customer base and develop potential new customers at all stages of the sales cycle including targeting, prospecting and presenting compelling business propositions.
  • Identifying market needs and trends in the pharmaceutical industry, in particular for freeze drier applications.
  • Work effectively with decision makers at all levels to develop long-term strategic relationships.
  • Develop and present powerful, persuasive sales presentations that effectively demonstrate the value proposition of Optima Pharma’s freeze drier solutions.
  • Develop and maintain a strong project pipeline and continuously grow the brand recognition and acceptance of our freeze drier product line.
  • Collaborate with the sales team and other support teams within the Optima organization to ensure successful implementations of sales, marketing, and product strategies.
  • Develop and execute a strategic business plan that meets or exceeds established strategic goals to supports company growth targets.
  • Attend conferences and professional association meetings, to promote Optima’s product solutions and brand.
  • Prepare and give business reviews and presentations to the management team on regular basis.
  • Individual must develop a thorough understanding of core competencies & technologies in order to develop strategies for the application of our technologies.
  • Deliver technical presentations to customers at all levels.
  • Attend relevant trade shows (both domestic and international).
  • Position requires 50%+ travel (both domestic & international).

Qualifications and Skills

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in business development, sales or marketing.
  • Bachelor or Engineering degree, preferably in Pharma or Bio-manufacturing.
  • Experience in working with decision makers at all levels and large organizations.
  • Proven ability to develop long-term strategic relationships with key decision-makers.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in seeking and developing new business opportunities.
  • Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organizational skills including prioritizing, scheduling, time management, and meeting deadlines; detail oriented.
  • Comfortable working within an international matrix organization.  
  • Spanish and/or German language knowledge a plus but not required.
  • Job location in our office in Green Bay, WI.  Working from home office can be considered
